How do I recategorize a transaction before exporting?

You have the ability to recategorize transactions in two areas on the Brex dashboard. Admins and Bookkeepers can recategorize transactions on the Company Transactions tab or on the Review & Export page of the Integrations tab before exporting to your ERP or accounting software.

Regular users can also categorize their own transactions in the Your Transactions tab of the dashboard.


Option 1 - Company Transactions or Your Transactions tab


Step 1: Navigate to the corresponding tab on the left-hand menu bar of the Brex dashboard

Step 2: Using the search filter on the top of the page, find the transaction(s) you would like to recategorize



Step 3: After clicking on the transaction, you can change the category by clicking on the arrow next to the current category and selecting a new one category from the drop-down menu

Important note: You will not have the option to change the categorization for transactions that have already been exported to your ERP or accounting software. You can tell if a transaction has already been exported by a blue sync arrow icon.

Option 2 - Review & Export tab


Step 1: Click on the Integrations tab on the left-hand menu bar of the Brex dashboard

Step 2: Click on Manage under your active integration

Step 3: Click on Review & Export on the top right-hand corner

Step 4: Scroll through the transactions and find the transaction(s) which you would like to recategorize prior to exporting

Step 5: After clicking on the transaction, you can change the category by clicking on the arrow next to the current category and selecting a new one category from the drop-down menu
