Why is the credit card number on my Brex dashboard different from the card I received in the mail?

Your virtual card and your physical Brex card intentionally have different numbers, expiration dates, and CVV codes. The cards are different so that in the event that your physical card gets damaged, lost, or stolen, you don't have to worry about changing or updating each of your online subscriptions.

You can use whichever card you would like for online transactions. For in-person transactions, you will need to use your physical Brex card or add your virtual card to a mobile wallet like Apple Wallet.

Important: We advise you not to use your virtual cards for transactions that may potentially require you to present a physical credit card for reference. Examples of such transactions include hotels, theater tickets, and car rentals.
