How do I recategorize a transaction before exporting?

Admins and bookkeepers can recategorize transactions from two places in the Brex dashboard: the Company transactions or Review & Export pages under the Integrations tab. Please do this before exporting to your ERP or accounting software.

Regular users can also categorize their own transactions in the Personal section of the Transactions page.


Company or personal transactions


Step 1: Under Card, navigate to Transactions and select the appropriate tab, Company or Personal.

Step 2: Using the search filter at the top of the page, find the transaction(s) you would like to recategorize.



Step 3: After clicking on the transaction, you can change the category by clicking on the arrow next to the current category and selecting a new one from the drop-down menu.

Note: You will not have the option to change the categorization for transactions that have already been exported to your ERP or accounting software. You can tell if a transaction has already been exported if it has a blue sync arrow icon.

Review & Export tab


Step 1: Click on Integrations tab on the left side of your Brex dashboard.

Step 2: Click Manage under your active integration.

Step 3: Click Review & Export in the top-right corner.

Step 4: Scroll through the transactions and find the transaction(s) you'd like to recategorize prior to exporting.

Step 5: After clicking on the transaction, change the category by clicking on the arrow next to the current category and selecting a new one from the drop-down menu.
